New Box Set: Scientific Advertising Origins

Scientific Advertising Origins - Where and How Modern Marketing Started

All effective modern marketing can be traced to three authors in one time period.

You only find this by studying the greats, and who they studied, and then who THEY studied. None of the modern marketing “guru's” talk about this period in history, but all their work stems from the discoveries made during this time.

Following these footsteps, you can eventually find the real basics which make all marketing work.

Really work.

That is exactly how these books were uncovered. While each separately tells pieces of the puzzle, together they tell the evolution of advertising as it exists today. All the advances made by others since can be directly traced to the breakthroughs made during this time.

These five books each tell their own piece to the puzzle.
  • Scientific Advertising and My Life in Advertising, by Claude C. Hopkins
  • Reason Why Advertising and Intensive Advertising, by John E. Kennedy
  • The Lasker Lectures, by Albert D. Lasker

Albert Lasker gave the narrative, telling where he first met and hired John E. Kennedy and Claude Hopkins. When you read those copywriters' works in turn, the lights come on. You'll see where all the new, “modern” breakthroughs have come from and why they get results. Even though they happened a hundred or so years ago...

Beyond that – when you study the ads these three created, and internalize them – you'll have learned everything they know. Then, when studying the later “big names” in the field, it will make whatever these newer "guru's" say open up new doors (and sales) for you. Way open.

All the secrets hidden in plain sight. Just in need of a bit of dusting off...

The Marketing Books You've Always Wanted Are On Their Way...

Update: Masters of Marketing Secrets Series now published as trade paperbacks.

Masters of Marketing Secrets Series now available in paperback from major retailers.

It's taken some work, which started late last year, just to get these books to you. I've just completed the proofing last night and these are enroute to Amazon, Ingrams, and other retail distributors so you can have hardcopy as well as ebook versions.

You're welcome.

Go ahead and ask your local bookstore to order you a copy. They're published by Lulu, so they should be welcome about anywhere that Indie Authors are sold. For now, the links below go to Lulu, who will print up your own personal version when you order them:

Additional ebook-only books in this series:

I've still got some work to get all the ebook versions actually showing up on iTunes, Nook, and Amazon - but they're coming. Google Play and Kobo have had them for some time, as well as Lulu proper. (See the individual sales pages for links.)

These will be followed by publishing to LeanPub, where you'll be able to get bundles of these books, and perhaps packages with special extras I have "leftover on the cutting room floor."

What's Next?

Despite my best intentions and planning, I've started writing a review of  Eugene Schwartz' Breakthrough Advertising - so there's some access to this data. Each of these Masters of Marketing Secrets books is intended to come out as a free email ecourse. But due to copyright restrictions, I wasn't able to reproduce Schwartz' book straight across - so a review helps everyone out.

Plus, it's part of the reason I took this study up - to learn from the Masters. Editing and proofing these for you is just part of the journey.

OK, it's back to the grindstone for me.

Have fun with this.

More coming.

Why all these books and what will you get?

This series of marketing books is yours because you deserve to know the truth - and they're coming to you in any version you like.

Essentially, ebooks, paperbacks, PDF's, ecourses, and (later) video courses and audiobooks.

Get the complete Masters of Marketing Secrets Series - paperback, ebook, ecourse.

The idea is to make it possible for you to have a complete library of Marketing Classics by proven experts - wherever and whenever you want it.

Some like it on their smartphone, or e-reader. Other's like the touch and weight of a paperback - where they can dog-ear and highlight and underline to their heart's content.

We're also going to make these into ecourses with downloadable PDF's so you can study them thoroughly, printing out just what you need. As well, we're on the look out for existing audio versions of these books to link for you (like Librivox does so well.)

As we can, we'll later do video's, to make full courses for in-depth study.

Whatever you like, you should have it your way.

Sure, this is a lot of work.

Knowing and understanding tested and proven copywriting and marketing basics is the key reason and purpose behind all that's being done here.

My own story is that I was studying someone who was (as it turned out) a fake. He did give one great advice - learn to write great copy and you can accomplish almost anything. That guy made literally millions, but could have made more - if he'd only studied the Marketing greats who lived and wrote about what they knew before he was born.

When I did my own study of marketing, this is exactly what I found. The basics of Marketing, like the basic motivations of humankind, haven't changed since before written history started. They've been refined, true. Unfortunately, the vast bulk of the "guru" books out there today aren't based on true basics that work. They are instead based on short-cut marketing gimmicks which only work once or for a very short while.

That is why there is a "latest craze" going all the time - and why people hate advertising and salespeople.

There are underlying basics that these few recent "greats" either haven't learned, or won't tell their own readers about. Once you understand those basics, then the whole world is open to you.

You only have to find them, study them, and apply them.

The finding part has been done. Not that you can't find more - but a dozen books will set you off on the right path. Others will show up for you as you need them. Even in this case, I had to stop and editing additional books into this series because they made a point which supported all the Master Classics.

Right now, I'm busy editing a (hopefully) final book into this series and then will get back to publishing them. The bulk are up on Lulu, Kobo, and Google Play right now. Next will be Amazon, iTunes, and Nook. Wrapping it up with be Leanpub, where you'll be able to get these as one complete set of digital versions. I'll also create some packages for most of the books individually, so you have additional data which couldn't be included in the editing process.

As these books are published, I'll update each individual page for that book so you can get the different versions of each that are available.

The paperbacks are all available on Lulu right now, but I'll be finalizing the proofs so they can ship to Amazon and every bookseller on the planet via Ingram.

All just so you can get the version of any or all of this series you want.

Your welcome.

Have fun with these. I am.

Your new Masters of Marketing Secrets Books are on their way...

The library of experts you've always wanted is nearly yours. Almost...

Just a few short downloads and you can have a boardroom of experts on your smartphone or tablet. Nearly...

While I really need to take the time to lay reviews out - this will come eventually. Right now, I'm busy getting them posted to the last distributors: Kobo and GooglePlay. (Sorry, no Amazon as yet - but these will come. You see these are in the public domain or open-source, neither Amazon likes - so they'll take extra editing just to get them published there.) And then there is Leanpub, so I can get you binders and packages of goodies...

What I will tell you is that there are 9 books, 8 authors, and I'll be doing reviews of them as I go (starting immediately after I get the last one put into it's last "new bed.")

There's also some extras - little books and not-so-little, which either give you some insight about the early days of advertising, or more authors from that time period to enlighten you further about the evergreen marketing basics.

I just stole some time to keep you posted.

Right now, I've got them all set up on Lulu, both as epubs and paperbacks. Lulu is posting to iTunes and B&N for me. Those last two will show up in a month or so, but both Kobo and GooglePlay should show up in a couple of days from when I post.

Leanpub will be done after those two. I'll be able to put them together in a single binder for you, as well as various packages with other additional material for your study.  Leanpub will also give you PDF's and mobi versions - without all that "also-bought" noise that Amazon shovels around. (Nice folks, over there at Leanpub. And the best royalties in all of self-publishing. I think you'll like them a lot.)

Anyway - I have to get back to business here. There's a couple of other books I have been needing to publish for some time, so these are going up as well - a little added time, but not much.

Keep yourself posted. If you haven't subscribed (email or RSS-feed buttons above right...) do it now. And leave a comment if you have one.

Cheers!

Update: Lulu has gotten finicky about public domain books. They won't distribute them further than their own site. An author with a derivative work now has to self-publish directly to all the major distributors. (See link for their apparent reasoning.)

This means they aren't going to show up on iTunes right away, but gives me the incentive to get them up on Amazon, which will be better for you.

Next is to get the reviews of each worked up and then a summary chapter to add to each book which aligns these into a coherent system. Meanwhile, I've found another couple of books which will fit well into this series. I'll be putting them into one book for you, so stay tuned...
